The title of this album is incorrect. There's a lot to write home about with this well-executed slab of emo tinged pop rock chaos. 8/10
Classic Rock
Hailing from Llanelli, 21against are a quartet of pop punk who know a melodic riff when it arrives and who have the chops to carry their inventive songs all the way. Almost certainly a storming proposition live, energetic and dynamic.
Musicians' Union
21 against are an interesting proposition, glaringly full of promise. The music is a powerful collision of grungey, full-on guitars and pop tunes. They come on with the confidence borne of many hours in practice studios, garages and bedrooms, the sound of two guitars sliding easily together. There's and obvious capacity for intelligent songwriting here.
James McLaren - Honk
"Dumb" is a fantastic example of what 21 against are about. The guitar work on this track is really good, and a great example of how to get the best from heavily overdriven guitars and still make them accessible and catchy. And talking of catchy, check out the chorus, it's an absolute pop monster. The engine room for 21 against is a strong one indeed. Wilf (drums) demonstrates some of the tightest playing that I have heard on a demo in some time, while Peek (bass) gives the whole thing a solid footing. There are 3 other tracks on this demo, all of which keep the standard high and "4 o 'clock" has a chorus the size of mount Snowdon. All in all, it's a splendid piece of work from a band that should be big.
